ZIDA TO SHOWCASE ENERGY INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES AT AFSIC 2026

Published:

The Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA) will showcase selected energy projects and facilitate investor engagement and financing discussions at AFSIC 2026, supporting efforts to expand Zimbabwe’s electricity supply and unlock growth across productive sectors.

As the coordinating agency for Zimbabwe’s participation, ZIDA is working with Government ministries, agencies, institutions and private-sector partners to align investment promotion activities, stakeholder participation and investor engagements.

The Agency will collaborate with the Ministry of Energy and Power Development and the Embassy of Zimbabwe in the United Kingdom to present energy investment opportunities and connect prospective investors with the relevant institutions and project promoters. This coordinated approach brings together investment facilitation, sector expertise and diplomatic support to advance project discussions.

ZIDA’s participation will also be supported by MCM Legal, Mutapa Investment Fund, CBZ and NSSA, providing a platform for engagement among project promoters, investors, financial institutions and other stakeholders.

Camelzone Energy, Ravensus Solar, Solgas Energy and Acacia Solar have been selected for inclusion in the Zimbabwe Deal Book based on their project readiness and suitability for engagement with investors seeking opportunities that can progress towards implementation. These projects form part of a broader pipeline, with all projects currently promoted by ZIDA included in the overall Zimbabwe Investment Prospectus, offering opportunities at different stages of development.

Energy investment is central to Zimbabwe’s economic growth. Reliable electricity supports manufacturing output, mining and mineral beneficiation, agricultural irrigation, agro-processing and cold chain facilities. It also strengthens operations in tourism, healthcare, ICT and infrastructure, while reducing production interruptions and reliance on costly backup generation.

The selected projects require a combination of debt and equity financing, depending on their financing structures and capital already secured. For projects ready for implementation, funding would support equipment procurement, engineering and construction, installation, grid connection and commissioning. Where applicable, it would also finance battery storage and associated infrastructure.

Private investors can contribute capital, technical expertise and operational capacity through independent power projects, captive generation for mines, factories and farms, and decentralised systems serving communities and businesses.

At AFSIC, ZIDA will connect project promoters with prospective equity partners and lenders, facilitate due diligence and financing discussions, and coordinate follow-up with relevant Government institutions and partners. The objective is to translate investor interest into financing commitments that enable projects to reach financial close, commence construction and ultimately add reliable generation capacity.

Through these engagements, ZIDA seeks to advance energy investments that support value addition, employment creation, export growth and improved business competitiveness.
