Firebrand Norton member of Parliament Temba Mliswa passing his condolences on the death of veteran Norton Miner Ms. Sheila “Cde Yondo” Mabasa on his Twitter account said Mabasa died of Covid-19.
The tweet read, “My condolences on the passing away of Cde Sheila “Yondo” Mabasa who succumbed to Covid. Worked with her amicably when I was Chairman of the Province and we also had the same connection of coming from Shurugwi. She was a unique individual. May her soul rest in peace”.

Earlier reports had indicated Mabasa’s last known whereabouts were at Vimbai surgery in Norton.
Mabasa was the co-owner of the successful Moflegosh mine of Norton. Moflegosh mine is a typical example of how mining and agriculture can co-exist successfully and profitably. Instead of wasting away water from mine shafts, the water is used for agricultural produce at the mine.
In the video below the late Sheila Mabasa (Cde Yondo) explains gold and schist extraction from the shafts.
