Intrachem has confirmed an explosion at its explosives magazine near Redcliff, with investigations underway amid reports of extensive damage and an alleged fatality.
Responding to Mining Zimbabwe, Intrachem Managing Director Mr Darryn Brider confirmed the incident but declined to provide further details, citing instructions from investigating authorities.
“Yes, I can confirm that there has been an incident at our explosives magazine near Redcliff. Investigations are currently underway, and investigating authorities have advised us not to release any further information right now,” Brider said.
According to reports circulating online, the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 11 October 2026, with a powerful blast reportedly heard across Kwekwe and Redcliff at around 2:00 AM.
The extent of the damage and reports of a fatality have not been independently verified.
