One person has died, three others have been injured and five excavators have been set on fire following a violent incident at Chenxi Mine Site Four in Shurugwi.
The incident occurred during the night of 2 November 2026 in the Wanderer mining area, according to a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) press statement issued on Tuesday, 3 November.
Police confirmed that investigations are underway into the public violence, which resulted in death, injuries and destruction of mining equipment.
“More details to be released in due course as investigations continue,” the police said in the statement.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, with police indicating that further information will be provided as investigations progress.
